Master Adson

Master in Taekwondo

Master Adson began his martial arts journey in 1989, dedicating himself to the discipline, philosophy, and lifelong pursuit of excellence in martials arts. With over three decades of experience, he is a highly respected Master Instructor in Taekwondo, a former martial arts school owner, and is recognized for both his technical expertise and his commitment to empower students of all ages and backgrounds.

In addition to traditional Taekwondo instruction, Master Adson also specializes in teaching a broad range of self-defense systems. He is an instructor in hapkido, street self-defense, knife self-defense, and women's self-defense, equipping students with practical skills for real-world situations. He also has a background teaching cane fighting defense and ground fighting, offering a comprehensive approach to personal protection and martial arts skills.

As a former competitor, referee, and seasoned coach, Master Adson is Mindful Martial Arts' Lead Sparring Instructor, preparing interested students for success in World Taekwondo style (formerly known as WTF) sparring competitions - full contact style sparring using Olympic rules.  Competition training and participation asks students to step out of their comfort zone.  Students often see themselves pushing beyond boundaries they didn't realize they had, to challenge themselves to pursue goals they thought were impossible.  There is a long list of students in Master Adson's career who have gone onward in life to successfully pursue careers and interests, develop leadership qualities, and teach and empower others, whose seeds were planted in their competition days in martial arts.

Master Adson's passion for teaching and leadership has led him to train generations of martial artists.  Now, that continues with a new generation of Mindful Martial Artists.  His dedication, integrity, and deep respect for the martial arts tradition is the legacy he passes on to each and every student.  His lasting impact on students is seen in the leaders they become and the values they carry on and impart to others.

Ms. Sparrow Adson

Black Belt Board

Ms. Adson began her martial arts journey as a teenager when she read the "Way of the Peaceful Warrior" by Dan Millman and then trained in taekwondo for a brief time.  But it wasn't until later in life that she found her martial arts family with the USA Taekwondo Centers of Flagstaff AZ, later named The Martial Way Training Center.  There, with Master Feagan, Master Adson, Master Kallie, and many other outstanding people, she continued her training, became an instructor, and earned her 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo.

Today, her favorite classes to instruct include new student introductions, forms, and board breaking.  In addition, she often can be found coaching students in life skills such as communication, self esteem, goal setting, and taking action.  And as a former competitor, Ms. Adson enjoys preparing students for competition in both forms and sparring.  Which is where she can truly motivate and empower students to get off the sidelines, 'step up to the plate', and go after what they want in life.

Her life reflects her belief and dedication to lifelong learning.  Martial arts is not something she does with a final destination in mind.  It is a life journey.  It has taught her to keep learning, to grow, to have fun along the way, and to accomplish every goal she set her mind to.  Most recently, she has picked up playing the bagpipes and discovered that, like martial arts, she has found a lifelong practice.

Ms. Adson is privileged to carry this heritage forward, in a new school, to a new generation of students, with Mindful Martial Arts.
